Conventional Water Heater Installation In Vancouver

Conventional water heaters are basic storage tanks. We install gas-fired and electric hot water tanks. Gas-fired tanks are significantly cheaper to operate than electric tanks. They are either natural draft tanks venting up through a chimney liner, or power vented tanks venting through the side, front, or back wall of your home. Electric tanks are sometimes used when there is no easy way of venting a gas-fired water heater. Typically, Vancouver homes use either 40 or 50-gallon tanks. The average life expectancy of conventional hot water tanks is 15 years. Keep in mind, it’s always better to replace your tank before it leaks all over the basement.

Indirect Water Tanks for Hot Water Heating Systems

Indirect water heaters are the most efficient way for houses with hot water heating systems to store domestic hot water. An indirect water heater is not an appliance. Instead, your boiler heats the water in the tank, so if you have a 95% AFUE high-efficiency boiler, you also have a 95% efficient water heater. Indirect tanks are highly insulated which minimizes the need for the boiler to come on and maintain the temperature of the water in the tank.

Indirect water heaters are more expensive than conventional tanks, but are significantly more efficient. These are typically used for larger homes or families that have a high hot water demand, or in multi-unit dwellings.
